How Was The Treatment Of Tuberculosis Discovered?
Tuberculosis is known to exist even before the year 2000BC, and writings from Egypt and Babylon mention it. Even the in the Greek literature there can be found information about phthisis and local doctors considered this disease to be very dangerous for citizens.
In the seventh century doctors began to study more about tuberculosis and exact facts about this disease began to appear in books. In 1679 Sylvius wrote about the tubercles that appear in the patient's lungs and about how they transform into abscesses and cavities. In 1702 Manget brought information about the military tuberculosis, describing its pathological features. In 1699 in Italy the authorities decided that the objects that wound have remained after a person's death of tuberculosis were to be disinfected in order to keep the other citizens safe.
Benjamin Marten was the first to say in 1720 that the consumption was caused by "wonderfully minute living creatures" which attack the lungs. He also stated that these creatures would have transmitted to any other healthy person who would have stayed to close to an infected person like sleeping with it or eating and drinking from the same plate and cup.
Scientists seem to have discovered many things about the transmission of the disease but that was good only for prevention but not for the cure of the disease as there was no treatment available.
Only later sanatorium centers were invented for consumption people at the idea of Hermann Brehmer who was ill of consumption too but cured himself by traveling in the Himalayan Mountains for a while. These sanatoriums cured people by exposing them to long sun and fresh air baths and a proper diet.
In 1865 a French doctor proved that the disease was caused by a specific microorganism which transmits from human to human and from human to animals.
In 1882 the mystery of the microorganism was solved by Robert Koch who invented a staining method for these bacteria. So the sanatoriums improved their social and sanitary conditions and kept the patients isolated from the healthy persons until they would have gotten better. An Italian doctor suggested the artificial pneumothorax to reduce the volume of the lungs and that was the beginning of the therapy era for tuberculosis.
In 1895 Wilhelm Konrad von Rontgen discovered the radiation and so the science men gained another battle against tuberculosis as they could monitory closely the progress or regression of the disease.
The most important discovery was made by the French Calmette and Guerin who instituted the basis for the vaccine against tuberculosis by using a low virulence Tb bacteria vaccine. The last step needed in the therapy of tuberculosis was made in the middle of the Second World War when chemotherapy was invented.

Guide to Alzheimer's Care Facility Options
When someone in your family has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, certain decisions will have to be made. Before you make any decisions however, it's important to know what your options are. For family members, accepting the fact that sooner or later, their loved one will need more care than they can provide is the first step toward understanding the steady progression of this terrible disease. Most family members naturally want to keep their loved one at home as long as possible. Taking care of someone stricken with Alzheimer's is trying and difficult, and eventually you're going to need help, but you have several options with an Alzheimer's care facility.
There are generally four choices to make for Alzheimer's patient care. Assisted Living or Residential care, Respite care, long-term care nursing home care, and Hospice care. For those who need to know Alzheimer's care facility options, it's important to know what each of those options are. Assisted Living allows a resident to live in a monitored environment like a long-term care facility, with help in daily living needs and skills. Trained aides your loved one in getting dressed, bathing, and eating and with any other daily living assistance they need. Nurses and doctors are also available twenty-four hours a day with in this type of Alzheimer's care facility.
Respite care offers a much-needed break for family and friends who have been watching over an Alzheimer's patient. If family members don't wish to place their loved one in the care of an Alzheimer's care facility, they often opt to try to take care of them in the home. The daily stress and strain of providing constant care however, is draining, and that's where Respite care comes in. Respite Alzheimer's care facility offices send a trained nurse or nursing aid to the home to care for the needs of the patient so that family members can 'get away from it all' for short periods of time. Respite care also includes day care facilities and services so that your loved one can go places, socialize and be with others in a controlled group with trained personnel constantly available.
Another type of Alzheimer's care facility is a long term nursing facility such as what used to be more commonly known as nursing homes. For Alzheimer's patients who need around the clock care and attention, this may be the best solution. No one wants to put their loved on in a facility, but when safety and health becomes an issue, it's the best thing you can do. Make sure to check out the facilities in your area to make sure they will be able to provide your loved one with the care and attention they deserve. Most long-term care facilities have a special unit designed for Alzheimer's patients that provides the ultimate in safety and activities in a protected environment.
As with any disease process, Alzheimer's will eventually lead to basic body systems shutdown, and when that time comes, Alzheimer's care facility staff will call in a Hospice worker. Hospice care provides declining patients with more personalized care, attention and support to both patient and family members during this very difficult stage of the disease. An Alzheimer's care facility, no matter which one you select, offers the support, knowledge and experience to help you take care of your loved one. Since Alzheimer's is such a progressive disease, you may even use all of the above services while taking care of the Alzheimer's patient. However, the support and concern of staff members from any Alzheimer's care facility will provide you with the help you need to ensure that your loved one's quality of life is maintained as long as possible.

Adolescence Suicide -Exam-O-Mania Part-5
"Positive approach of mind; makes one win half of the battle in life;
and rest half battle is won by dedicated hard work"
My dear Ezine readers, in this article, I would bring out a few important tips for my teenagers who are under going sever Stress of Exam-o-Mania (SEM). As I have still not recovered from a few bad news of previous year's suicide of my beloved teenagers, I hope teenagers would paste these tips in their bed rooms to avoid stress and get in to depression.
Though I have been very effectively counseling and advising teenagers with out financial effect, today, I will give a few important tips to prevent teenager's suicide near examinations. I would cover pre-examination, during examinations and after examination tips with ample thought as to how to relieve pressure on teenager's mind. As I believe that only stress on every teenager is to perform in categories of one; well, two; better and three; exceedingly well. Why I categorized in to three distinct classes because no student wants to fail. The stress level in category three is at peak during examinations.
Category one students do fairly well without stress, category two students perform well but remain under medium level of stress but category three students are sensitive to take wrong step at minor presumptions. I, therefore, would suggest parents to allow their children to remain in category one and two only. Over or highly ambitious parents often make their teens suffer under third category.
Firstly, all you would agree with me that most of the teenagers undergo severe
SEM excitement near board examinations of tenth and twelfth standards in India and undergraduate or graduate levels entrance tests in the world. While interacting with teenagers, I noticed that most of them prepare very well and they also know subject in depth but they still exhibit fear of unknown. This is what needs to be curbed. Pre-Examination Stresses Symptom (PESS), by and large, put teenagers under severe Mental Disorder (MD). As, we know that child learn better while playing, therefore, educate your child through Learn in Playing (LIP) method. In this method, display and exhibit various history, geography, physics and other subject's related diagrams/charts in your house and play to develop competitive sprit and interest to learn. Parents have to play a vital role in developing and maintaining high confidence level amongst their teenagers.
Nevertheless, to overcome the PESS, I suggest:
•One; Parents to interact daily with teenagers;
•Two; conduct simple knowledge tests on my Learn in Playing (LIP) method;
•Three; continue to educate child by conducting mock tests to make him/her believe that he/she is well prepared;
•Four; develop faith in your teen to accept any result;
•Five; let you child conduct study in tension free environment at home;
•Six; if possible make child leave extra coaching and tuition after gaining confidence in the subject;
•Seven; assist your child in preparing Pre-Examination Preparation Chart (PEPC) to facilitate his/her subject wise studies;
•Eight; parents to pay attention to your teenagers study hours so that a child gets minimum six hours of calm sleep.
•Ninth; Parents to make sure child is provided conducive environment at home to study without disturbance:
•Tenth; last but most important is that develop total faith in your child gaining his confidence in ensuring that your ambition is not a key to his/her hard work
•confidence in your child that he knows everything;
Secondly, I would touch up on during a few cases of stresses during examinations and bring out a few remedial measures to reduce teenagers stress.
•One; teenagers should always enter in an examination hall thinking that he knows everything thus generating positive energy aura around you.
•Two; on entering examination hall, sit close your eyes for a while and relax mentally to recapture the subject issues;
•Three; when paper is handed over, Take the paper, just relax and read slowly making sure that you do not miss out any thing.
•Four; try to set priority of replying question paper while making first scanner reading. To solve the paper follow the order of Know, Partially know or Ignorant (KPI) rule.
•Five; while scanning a paper make your time appreciation also as to how much each question should be given. Never devote more time for a question which has fewer marks. Remember, that every question has a fix time. If you can not solve a question in time, do not make it prestige issue; rather leave it; and solve the next question, and return at the end if time permits.
•Six; never analyze a question paper with a mind set of as to how much you do not know; but look on papers as to how much you know? This will change your negative energy thoughts into positive approach, thus, making him more confidents in attempting the paper with a positive mind set as rule one does.
•Seven; first read those questions which you fully know, than attempt such questions which you partially know; and you can do nothing about those questions which you do not know, therefore, do not get worried about such question first.
•Eight; do not look towards your colleagues, sitting next with a view as to much he/she is writing but assess your own efforts as to how correctly you are solving;
•Ninth; after solving one set of questions. take a short break, relax and again set rolling to tackle next problems;
•Tenth; irrespective of the time left, make sure to tick each question attempted on paper with answer sheet not only to ensure that you have attempted all questions but also to look for any omission and error in solution.
Thirdly; I would discuss with you a few post examination stresses which create
problems for teenager's next paper's preparations. During my survey; I have observed that over 82% students get depressed very soon after attempting a difficult paper and getting out of examinations while reviewing; thus spoiling the next paper as well. I would suggest that:
•One; Never compare your paper with colleagues until unless you are very confident of correct answers;
•Two; do not waste time while reviewing the attempted paper after getting out of examination hall for difficult questions;
•Three; parents also should only check the paper keeping in mind the effect on preparation of your child's next paper;
•Four; even if you have attempted a difficult paper, do not think too much. Try to forget and prepare for next thinking to do well in the paper at hand;
•Five; never repeat never call any paper bad. Always say difficult.
•Six; never allow your child to go to isolation after a difficult paper;
•Seven; make sure your child takes difficult papers like mathematics, chemistry etc with ease and not under stress;
•Eight; Develop a high confidence level in your child to attempt and forget to avoid getting bugged by a difficult question paper. I have observed many students getting bogged down and can not get out of a difficult paper's mess thus spoiling their next paper as well.
•Ninth; follow my next rule "What has been done, cannot be undone".
•Tenth; interact with your child after every paper to encourage his preparations for next papers and not to rebuke and scold.
I hope the above tips would help teenagers and adolescence to over come the
EOM stresses and relieve them from parent's constant supervisory effects. Your views are solicited at som_kalpna@yahoo.com

Autism Linked To 100 Genes
Autism is a debilitating condition that is poorly understood and badly managed. However, inroads are being made into its understanding.
Scientists have new reason to believe that autism is linked to around 100 genes. The study has also shown that autism is more common in today's world than previously thought - and also more complex as a disease.
Victims will often have missing sections of DNA, or copies of existing DNA. It affects 1 in 150 children, and is considered genetic. No one knows yet for sure what causes the disease, but good progress is being made.
Symptoms of the disease include difficulties in behavior, social interaction, inability to think correctly or speak, and more serious things that severely debilitate the victim. The effects of autism are so variant that mapping the exact cause to the disease is tough work. Years have study have shown that exposing radiation to cells will produce similar effects as autism would on a cellular structure- suggesting cell mutation.
Normal diseases that are genetic will show that other family members have the same genetic pattern concerning the disease- not true with autism. About 2 out of 14 autism victims have relatives with the disease, which is a significant number.
The disease itself is very mysterious, and something that will only be unravelled in time. Things are still at a relatively early stage of development and more time and scientific energy will be needed before the picture is fully understood. Researchers hope to make a breakthrough soon after mapping the human genome.

All About Hepatitis C
Hepatitis is the medical problem that appears when your liver is inflamed. This may happen because of a virus, but there are some other factors that can cause hepatitis as well. Alcohol, certain medication and even trauma can cause hepatitis. Hepatitis is not a life threatening condition and can be treated. However, there are cases when a certain virus that causes hepatitis can cause an infection which can last a very long time, known as chronic hepatitis. This infection can even lead to liver failure and even death.
Viral hepatitis is the hepatitis cause by a virus. There are four types of this kind of hepatitis: hepatitis A, the hepatitis B, C hepatitis and of course delta hepatitis. The most frightening of all these types of hepatitis is the hepatitis C. It is cause by a virus specific to hepatitis C. This hepatitis virus affects a large number of people every year. This condition is usually looked at as mild, however this type of hepatitis can very easily lead to chronic liver problems, unlike the hepatitis B type. Everyone that gets infected with the hepatitis virus can be chronic carriers of this virus. However, many of them will not even have hepatitis symptoms. Out of all the people that carry this hepatitis C virus, about seventy percent will go on to develop a chronic liver problem. It does not matter if they have any hepatitis symptoms or not.
Hepatitis C is usually spread by contact to human blood that has been contaminated with the hepatitis C virus. There is an astonishing number of people that are infected with the hepatitis C virus because of injection of drugs. People who have transfusions of blood are also at risk of infection with the hepatitis C virus. However, the risk is lowered now, because of a test that requires that the blood used for transfusions must be tested for the hepatitis C virus. This type of hepatitis virus can also be transmitted sexually and also between house members. However, it is believed that the risk of developing hepatitis C in these cases is low. You can not get the hepatitis C virus from food, water or by shaking somebody' s hand. There are symptoms that can tell you that you are suffering from hepatitis C, although a large number of hepatitis patients have no symptoms at all. fever, fatigue, dihareea, muscle aches are some of the hepatitis C symptoms.

What to Expect After Hysterectomy Surgery
Having hysterectomy surgery is a challenging situation for any woman. Along with the usual trauma associated with any type of invasive procedure, hysterectomy surgery carries its own blend of physical and emotional issues. Here are a few things to expect after hysterectomy surgery.
One of the first issues to deal with after surgery is the pain. Typically, the patient will be in a recovery area for several hours after the procedure, and then be monitored for a day or so very closely once returning to a hospital room. Medication will be on hand to help with the pain, and it should begin to subside over the next several days.
Do not be alarmed by vaginal bleeding or discharge after the surgery. This is normal after this type of procedure and will slowly decrease until it stops five to seven days after the surgery. In the meantime, change the sanitary pads regularly.
Having hysterectomy surgery will take time to get over. Your energy level will be low at first. If possible take a nap in the afternoon and exercise according to the instructions you are given by your physician. There may be days when you do not want to exercise, but keep in mind your recovery will be helped by following the routine your doctor has recommended.
There may be a tendency to feel a sense of loss after the hysterectomy surgery. It is important to remember that your worth as a person is still what is was before the surgery. Allow others to express their warm feelings for you during this time. Your feelings of depression should begin to lift along with the restoration of your energy level.
When it comes to physical intimacy after surgery, most women are able to resume sexual activity after around six weeks. There are women who report an increase in sensation after hysterectomy surgery. This may be a physical reaction to relief from the pain experienced before the surgery.
It is important to understand what to expect before you have your surgery. Your doctor can help you understand what your reaction may be, and help you come up with constructive solutions to get you through the recovery period.

Simple Cures for Heartburn
Heartburn is a condition that most of us have experienced at one time or another. It is common in everyone after a large Thanksgiving meal, and for some unfortunate folks, it happens several times each week. Several simple cures can provide relief, and natural solutions that have been passed down through the generations are still effective. Common sense tells us to watch what we eat and drink to stop the onset of heartburn, but when that fails to work, try some of these solutions.
Add two heaping teaspoons of fennel seeds to a cup of boiling water, and let it steep for several minutes. Fennel seeds are found in natural health food stores, and in the bulk area of your supermarket. You should find relief from your heartburn by the time you are done your cup of tea.
Another common cure is ginger root. This can be found in the produce section of your supermarket. You will need to peel it, and then shred it. You can steep it in tea, or add it in with your cooking to aid digestion and prevent any discomfort.
Peppermint has been a long time favorite natural digestive solution. You can grow it in your garden or in a patio pot if you wish. It is also found in the supermarket. Simply wash the leaves and stems, and chew on them when you feel the start of an episode of heartburn.
Rhubarb is another natural solution for heartburn; however, the sour taste of it prevents this from being a popular cure. If you are up for it, chew on a slice of the stalk to find relief. Stewed rhubarb can also be effective. Wash the stems, and discard the leaves. Cook them with a bit of water and sugar. Adding a pint of strawberries will make it much more pleasant.
As with all edible substances, be sure that you are not allergic to them before consuming them.
Not all heartburn cures work effectively for all people. Each of us has our own sensitivities and idiosyncrasies. The first step to take if you are frequently suffering from heartburn is to keep a food diary. Write down everything you eat and drink for several days, and see if you can find a common food trigger. The solution can be as easy as eliminating a specific food or spice from your diet. For some people, a combination of food and stress works as a heartburn trigger. If that is the case for you, then you won't have to give up anything, you will just have to enjoy your trigger foods on the weekend when you are away from stressful environments.
Being aware of your risk factors can help you avoid and episode of stomach distress, but it is not a perfect solution. Avoiding fatty foods, alcohol, strong spices and coffee is important, especially if you are a frequent sufferer, but it is not always possible to give up everything that can be a trigger. Chewable antacids can provide immediate relief, but if you find yourself reaching for them more than a few times a week, it is time to make an appointment with your health care provider. Heartburn can be a symptom of a more serious digestive problem, such as acid reflux.
Discovering a cure for heartburn begins with finding the trigger, then avoiding it when possible. When that is not possible, one of these easy solutions will provide relief.

Tips for Panic Attacks
These tips for panic attacks can help you when that awful moment occurs when you think the world is coming to an end. Rest assured; it isn't. Panic attacks are very frightening, and while it may seem as if you are about to have a heart attack, or have a strong feeling of foreboding and doom, know that these are just symptoms of the condition and will pass.
Tip #1: Once the panic attack begins, you cannot stop it. All you can do is ride the wave of fear. Depending upon where you are when the panic attack occurs, this will determine how to handle it. For example: if you are in a department store, alone, your first instinct will be to get out of there. As calmly as possible, find the exit sign – this will give you some relief. Go outside and just stand in front of the store and take deep breaths.
If you are accompanied by a friend; have the friend find the nearest exit and let him or her lead the way. You will be in no shape to find it yourself and you may be walking around in circles which will further increase the panic episode.
If you are driving in your car, alone, and the panic attack occurs; move over to the right lane. You may think you are going to faint; but you won't. If you need to, stop at the shoulder and just sit in your car, with the windows open, and take slow breaths. It may seem like an eternity, but the panic will pass. Don't put on the radio; it will just enhance the panic attack even more. Just sit quietly and wait.
Conversely, if you have a panic attach when passenger in car; ask the driver to either pull over or take the nearest exit ramp. You will need to exit the car and walk around. Remember, the fright and flight components associated with panic attacks will subside as long as you have control over your situation.
Tip #2: If you have a panic attack at home, the safest thing to do is walk around. Don't try to occupy your thoughts with something else - it won't work. With your heart pounding and your peripheral vision widening, you are in no condition to try and focus on anything. If there are family members in the home with you, they will recognize the signs. Just keep walking around until you feel that nauseousness subside.
While it may seen the attack will never end; it only lasts a few minutes. After which you will be physically and emotionally spent. In fact, your body may go into a type of shock wherein you will feel cold and exhausted. Just lie down and eventually you will fall asleep.
These two tips for panic attacks are just the tip of the iceberg when you become totally enveloped in this condition. The main thing you need to do is breathe; walk; and not try to do anything that will further intensify these episodes.

Autism Understanding Furthered by International Genetic Study
Autism understanding begins when a person realizes that autism is a disorder that affects people differently. Although autism affects the normal functioning of a person's perception, attention and thoughts, autism is not characterized by one type of perception, attention and thought. Instead, it covers a broad spectrum of disorders that may be mild or severe. Due to the fact that autism is such a complex disorder, medical research is still in the process of understanding how it develops and why it affects certain individuals.
One particular medical project with the aim to find better autism understanding by identifying the gene that causes autism, is the 5 year Autism Genome Project (AGP). So far, phase I of the AGP has identified a gene and parts of a chromosome to be linked with the occurrence of autism. The findings of this particular autism study was published online in the Nature Genetics February 18, 2007 issue.
The Autism Genome Project is a global research consortium that is funded by Autism Speaks and the National Institute of Health. Autism Speaks is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising the awareness of autism and raising funds to help research it.
The AGP involves more than 120 scientists from 50 institutions in 19 countries around the world. The researchers who have collaborated on the project combined their autism expertise, and shared all of the data and samples they had to help identify autism-related genes.
As was mentioned, phase I of this project began 5 years ago in 2002, and it allowed the team of medical experts to gain autism understanding by identifying a single specific gene known as neurexil 1, and part of chromosome 11 which could likely be the cause of autism in children. These findings are based on the largest autism genome scan that has ever been done.
Scientists have known for many years that autism is a genetic disorder, but only until the AGP have they been able to use special "gene chip" technology to search for genetic similarities in autistics. Genetic similarities were found in practically all of the autistic individuals within each of the twelve hundred families that that were made part of the project. The scientists also checked the DNA of each family to look for copy number variations that are believed might be connected to autism and similar disorders.
What the researches discovered in their study was that one particular gene known as neurexin 1 plays a significant role with glutamate; a neurotransmitter that has been formerly linked to autism. Researchers also uncovered an area of chromosome 11 that is suspected to contain a gene that may be involved in the occurrence of autism. However, this particular gene in chromosome 11 has yet to be identified which is required for further autism understanding.
Based on previous research, and the research that has been uncovered by the study so far, scientists speculate that there may be as many as 6 main genes and 30 additional genes linked to autism. However, these numbers are only theories, as scientists point out that the actual number of genes could exceed their theory. Nevertheless, despite the number of genes that may be involved, researchers admit that it is still far too early to dictate how these genes may be responsible for autism.
Currently, phase II of the Autism Genome Project has been announced. The promising discoveries found in phase I makes scientists hopeful that discovering the genes that cause autism will provide new steps toward autism understanding. With greater understanding, more effective methods of diagnosis, preventing and treating the disorder can be taken.

Best Migraine Prevention Medicines
Migraine headaches are a destructive part of life for nearly 11 out of 100 people. During migraine episodes, they can barely function. They curtail daily activities, and all of life seems distorted. Between episodes, they may feel anxious about the next one, and wish for some form of migraine prevention.
Although guaranteed migraine prevention seems to be more a promise than a reality as of the writing of this article, you do have options for treating symptoms, and, better yet, options for possible migraine prevention.
One Size Does Not Fit All
Although migraines seem to run in families, migraine prevention does not always run in the same course. For some migraineurs, prevention is as simple as changing a few habits. For others, migraine prevention seems to require strong medication.
What are the best migraine prevention medicines for you? The ultimate answer must be decided by you and your physician. We offer here a number of medicines for consideration.
Common Over-the-Counter (OTC) Medicines
This is the first line of migraine prevention – beginning at the minimal strength, minimal dosage to see if it will be a solution. Among these migraine prevention medicines are the following.
1. Aspirin in a regimen dose, i.e., tiny 81 mg tablets, commonly called "baby aspirin". For migraine prevention, these would be taken daily, just as they are to reduce risks of heart disease.
2. Ibuprofen such as Motrin, Nuprin, or Advil may be taken occasionally. Your physician will advise as to how often you should take ibuprofen for migraine prevention. People with active stomach ulcers or sensitive stomachs will not want to use ibuprofen, since it has aspirin-like effects. If you take ibuprofen, take it with food to minimize the effect. You should also be aware that ibuprofen has a blood thinning effect that can reduce the effectiveness of some blood pressure medicines and diuretics.
3. Naproxen may be effective for you, under its more common name, Aleve. This medicine may reduce the number of your migraines, but is not likely to give total migraine prevention.
4. A fourth OTC pain reliever you may want to try at the first sign of a migraine is Excedrin Migraine.
Ask your doctor before taking any of these regularly for migraine prevention.
Common Prescription Medicines
If OTC medicines fail to provide the degree of migraine prevention you seek, you may want to try a prescription medicine. Prescription strength pain relievers have been found to reduce the number of migraine episodes for more than half of all migraineurs. A few of the many prescription medicines available to you are listed here.
1. Ponstel, Anaprox, Naprosyn, Naprelan, and Topamax. Topamax claims to be the U.S. #1 prescribed brand for migraine prevention. Prescription strength Naproxen (Naprosyn, Anaprox, Naprelan) thins the blood, so your physician may not choose this as a fit for you if you are taking oral blood thinners or anticoagulants. Naproxen can have adverse gastrointestinal side effects also, so you should not use it if you have an active ulcer or sensitive stomach. Most doctors believe it is better to use medicines of this type continuously over a period of time to build up the effectiveness and provide ongoing migraine prevention rather than just pain relief.
2. Another class of prescription medicines that may give migraine prevention is Beta-blockers. These drugs, more often used to reduce high blood pressure, are sometimes helpful in cutting down on the number of migraine episodes. Of those that may give effective migraine prevention are inderal, Lopressor, metoprolol, nadolol, and timolol.
3. Physicians are gradually learning that antidepressants also provide migraine prevention for some patients. It is believed that this is due to the medicines' effects on serotonin, the brain's chemical messenger that influences migraine.
Which Size Is Right for You?
There are many other medicines, both prescription and non-prescription that are thought to provide a measure of migraine prevention. Like shopping for a new pair of dress shoes, you may have to try several before you find the one or two that work for you. Tips for Choosing Gym Quality Fitness Equipment for Your Home Use
If you've been to health clubs and gyms before, you must have admired a few fitness equipment that have worked so well with your fitness routine. Now that you're ready to invest in some serious exercise routine from your home, you're probably wondering where to find gym-quality home fitness equipment.
If you're a little bit confused, you're not alone. With so many home fitness equipment that claim to be the best alternative to gym quality fitness machines, it's easy to get lost in the choices. But with a little patience and some research, you'll find the perfect home fitness equipment that is the best for your fitness needs. Here's how:
Know your fitness goals
One of the biggest mistakes you could ever make is to buy the biggest, meanest gym quality fitness equipment monster there is simply because it's the best looking one in the store. The truth is, picking a home fitness equipment is like picking a partner to marry. What could be perfect for one could be disastrous for another.
Keep your fitness goals in mind when shopping for a home fitness equipment. Take note of the physical activities you enjoy doing. For example, if you're only trying to shed a few pounds and like hiking, a treadmill is the obvious choice. If you want to burn calories and target your lower body for toning, a stationary bike will fit your needs perfectly. Don't buy more fitness equipment than you need or they'll just end up gathering dust in a corner of your house.
Quality comes with a price
Gym quality home fitness equipment is not cheap and there's a reason why they come with a high price tag. They are built to last and withstand the constant wear-and-tear they will be put under with regular use. For gym equipment to survive this much punishment, it has to be made with the toughest materials and pass stringent manufacturing specifications.
If you're serious about getting fit using home gym equipment, then you probably have set aside a budget for it. Depending on your need, you will have a choice of gym quality home fitness equipment that starts at a reasonable $500 or you can go for the high-end home equipment that is priced at over $3000.
If your budget is at the range of a few hundred dollars, there is still a way to keep fit. Invest in several weights, a step trainer and a few workout videos. These will help you get started on a home fitness routine without the big machines.
However, while this alternative is cheaper, it does not offer the same fitness challenge that gym quality fitness equipment can. Once you get used to the exercise routine, you either have to up the challenge by purchasing new videos or just give up and get yourself a brand new fitness machine.
Go with the rave reviews
If there's a gym equipment that you like, you can try to find a duplicate for home use at many fitness stores. Many health club fitness equipment manufacturers develop machines for home use that are gym quality as well. So if a particular brand suits you fine, you might try to get its home edition equipment not only for its familiarity but also for the assurance of quality it offers.
Ask your gym instructor for recommendations or your friends for gym equipment reviews. Do your research over the internet or in fitness magazines and find the best home fitness equipment that will suit your taste and budget. Don't purchase fitness equipment sight-unseen, even if it claims to be gym quality. Many complaints about the performance of the machine do not appear until after you've test-run it for at least 20 minutes.
Try out the fitness equipment to see how you will perform. If it has a high learning curve, you probably will lose the motivation to use it. What looks effortless on TV may be very difficult to execute during actual use. Don't be carried away with hard selling or clever marketing ploys. If a manufacturer claims that their home fitness product is gym quality, you should be the best judge of that, no one else.
Getting gym quality home fitness equipment is a true assignment for any health buff or health buff-to-be. Arm yourself with the right kind of information and shop around for the features that you know you will be making use of. Furthermore, once you buy a home fitness equipment, make sure to put it to good use. If it's a gym-quality machine, it deserves to be treated as such.

Simple Solutions To Neck And Back Pain Revealed
Holding a precious child or grandchild can be a wonderful experience. It can be a highlight of your life. Getting some attention and a hug from your spouse can make your day, but all these things can become a painful experience if you have neck and back pain. There are many people who suffer from these two things, and the normal things that you used to do daily can become literally a pain in the neck. Pain can change a person. The way they view life in general and the way they treat others can become influenced by how much pain they are going through. This article will talk about some simple solutions in living with neck and back pain.
No one likes to get hurt, but what if you hurt all the time. There are people who suffer from neck and back pain on a daily basis. They live in their own little world at times, just to be able to cope with the pain. Unless you have suffered like this yourself, it can be difficult at times to understand someone who experiences this level of pain daily. They can become easily irritated and lash out for no reason at all. They can isolate themselves from being around people or family, because noises can set them off and they don't want to offend anyone. Neck and back pain can come and go, or it can be non stop and hurt all the time.
There are many things that can cause neck and back pain, and especially in the back area, there are cases of no known cause, but believe me the pain is very real. These type of injuries can be caused from an accident or a movement. You can have neck and back pain from a muscle spasm or torn ligaments. These can be treated and often resolve themselves back to normal over time and treatment. You would need an anti inflammatory to treat this. You can use massage, and a combination of heat and cold, but usually heat feels the best. The heat helps relax the muscles which are tensed up and causing the neck and back pain. Stress can also cause this type of pain because your body is all uptight and tense. There are some good relaxation techniques that can not only help the neck and back pain, but also help you deal with the stress as well.
There are all types of products out that you can get to help with neck and back pain and many of them are helpful. Medication is of course one of the major aids in dealing with the pain, but try to avoid this as much as possible. The pain killers are very addictive and you can end up relying on this medication permanently. The problem is that once you begin taking the meds, your body becomes accustomed to the dosage amount, and then it takes more and more dosage to accomplish what used to be less. The use of a hot tub and or sauna can help relax the muscles for neck and back pain. Warm water therapy is great for the body. Like I said earlier, heat can be very helpful and there are many different types of heating pads available to be used while you are lying down or sitting. They even have heat wraps available that you stick on your body while you are out and about. These things do help with neck and back pain, especially if you are traveling in a vehicle.
